How many of the deaths seen on TV are real? From what some groups are saying, you would believe that people are actually being killed. Groups are trying to ban TV shows, video games, and movies. Parents should decide what is appropriate for their own children to watch. Nothing should be censored for adults. When people are old enough to make their own decisions, the choices should be available to them. They shouldn’t be limited to choices that are deemed appropriate for children under the age of twelve.

Video games recently have been placed under a rating system similar to the system used for movies. Although this system is in place many parents still purchase games for their children even though the game is labeled inappropriate for a child. The rating system still forces some games to change their content. Movie can show what the director had envisioned, but games are thought of as being for children. Because of this they are censored as if only children play them. (Although recent reports indicate that the average player is over 18) Games are not aloud to show smoking, drinking, and many other unacceptable actives. I believe that game designers should not be censored. If the games are not suitable for children they should be restricted and but not censored.

Movies have been rated for years. Parents still let their children go to see the inappropriate movies. Now the theaters are enforcing age limitations. This should be all that is needed, Anything that can be made and produced should be available to the public to see if they wish. Some movies are violent, then again their used to be public hangings as social events. Parents need to stop letting the laws parent their children. It is a adults responsibility to watch out for their child’s interests. The age limitations did not used to be enforced, it was a good step to start enforcing the restrictions instead of censoring the material. Video games rating system is not being strictly enforced yet, when it is other restrictions on material in games should be removed.

Laws should be made to help parents keep some rules enforced. Laws shouldn’t have to change the world we live in, based on some parents inability to watch over their children. In our society most families have two working parents which is a shame. Parents need more time to watch their children and learn about their child’s interests. Parents should be aware that their child spends all his time playing violent video games perhaps that is the problem. Perhaps the adults lacking the parenting skills are the cause of their children’s violence. There are many other things contributing to the rise of violence, besides the media.

TV is something that must be dealt with differently. It is stupid to assume a parent can know what their child is watching all the time. There is just to many was for a child to watch unsuitable shows. I agree that TV should have to be censored until certain hours and the day. I believe that TV has been controlled in a reasonable fashion. Pay channels should be allowed to show whatever they want because this is something that can easily be restricted from children to view.

Children now are more likely to be able to acquire weapons. Children now are put under more stress than I believe they were in the past. Maybe they have more freedom and free thought, which can cause these problems. Children may need other ways to output energy. Many kids watch violent movies and games because there is nothing better to do. Should we try to provide our youth with other options, or just take away things from society that may be a destructive habit for a small percent of the population?
